30 Days To A Healthier You
A lot can be achieved in 30 days. This is precisely the reason why 30-day fitness challenges are extremely popular. You must have come across so many successful programs that promise you a way to get slimmer, stronger, flatter abs, better butt in 30 days isn’t it? So a diet program that lasts just 30 days and gives you a way to be healthier is interesting too. That is precisely what the Whole30 diet is all l about.
What happens in 30 days?
30 days is neither too long nor too short. But during these days, you have to commit to:
- Eating healthy for the entire duration – there are no cheat days.
- Do a bit of planning so you can plan each day and diet carefully.
- Not weighing or measuring yourself in any way.
- Eating a few things and completely avoiding few others.
Being aware
The 30-day diet program is also about being aware of the foods that are good and bad for you. Incidentally, the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ is not just in terms of calorie count. Certain foods may cause your energy levels to dip and certain others may cause some skin conditions to erupt. Whatever the outcome – you should be aware of how food causes certain reactions in your mind and body.
Therefore the basic premise of the Whole30 diet is being mindful of what you eat and doing away with processed sugars and dairy in your food on the basis that human beings are not really meant to consume the same.
8-step program
The first 2 steps in the program are all about learning. You have to see what the diet entails and you get to see the list of what you can and cannot eat.
The 3rd step is about making a commitment to the start date after which you simply cannot back off.
4th comes the support system by way of the Whole30 community which you can tap into for moral support and for information too.
The 5th and 6th steps have to do with planning which will see you stocking up your refrigerator and kitchen with the ‘allowed’ items and advice to get you through unforeseen events that may cause disruptions in your diet.
7th step is internalizing the fact that you cannot weigh or measure yourself and the 8th step is your Day 1 of the program.
Products and foods
The program has a handy shopping list which you can download and stick to. Some of the foods that are allowed in the program are:
- Seafood,
- Eggs,
- Fruit,
- Nuts,
- Vegetables and
- Few meats.
You have to stay away from grains, legumes, alcohol, dairy or all kinds and foods with added sugars.
There are menus for each day of the program that will see you eating healthy meals for all three times of the day. There is also a list of Whole30 approved snacks that are handy to munch into when you are hungry. At the end of the program it is easy enough to continue eating healthy because you will have better awareness of your relationship with food.
