For most of us, the idea of going to the gym is not a pleasant one. Working out and traditional exercise just isn’t fun for most people. There is nothing wrong with a straight-up sweat session on the exercise machines at the gym, but we’re not all cut out for that life. The good news is that there is more than one way to get into shape.
Without ever seeing the inside of a gym, it is 100 percent possible to be in the best shape of your life. Creativity and fitness can be very good friends, and here are a few suggestions on how. Check out some fun ways to exercise without actually feeling like you are “exercising.”
Play sports with friends
The object of exercise is to stay in good shape. Playing sports with your friends offers up plenty of physical activity that could be considered “exercise.”
Playing disc golf, football, or basketball with friends will get your whole body moving, and you won’t even think about the fact that you are exercising. Just like when we were kids, we can go outside and play to keep our bodies moving and fit.
Go dancing at the club
If you have ever spent the night dancing at a club, you understand just how many calories are shed on the dance floor. The only stipulation to this method of “exercise” is that you can’t get wasted.
Drinking copious amounts of alcohol will simply counteract the positive effects of the exercise with more terrible health risks. Be the D.D. for the night, and focus on breaking a sweat on the dance floor instead.
Explore new lands on foot
Sounds exotic, doesn’t it? Well, it can be exotic, but hiking will always leave you in better shape than when you started. The world is a beautiful place. Do not be afraid to step outside and see what Mother Nature has to offer.
Get involved with a DIY project
Rather than sitting around your house, fix it. Get started on a do it yourself project around the house, and make sure it’s done to the highest degree of perfection.
Recaulking the bathtub to remove mold and mildew, cleaning the gutters, or planting a veggie garden is much more labor-intensive than you may imagine. Get exercise and an upgrade at the same time, and get moving on your first DIY project.
Help the homeless in your community
Unfortunately, no matter where you live, there is probably a population of homeless people. Get involved with your local community effort, and start helping people in need.
Lugging food boxes and sorting out other goods will keep your body moving for hours. Walking around outdoors, socializing with the homeless community will also get you up and moving. Help your body and your soul simultaneously by helping others.
