Five Parts Of Your Body You May Be Taking For Granted

Are you taking care of your health? Most people at least try to, but sometimes they miss a few important parts of their body when it comes to being healthy. There is more to health than just exercising and eating right.

When was the last time you went to the eye doctor or the dentist? When was the last time you got a massage or took some time out to stretch before working out? Here are a few parts of your body you may be taking for granted and what you can do to give them the attention they deserve.

Your Eyes

Do you get your yearly eye exam done? You may not realize it, but the older you get the more important it is to get your eyes checked on a regular basis. Catching the chances for glaucoma and macular degeneration ahead of time can allow you to do healthful things ahead of time to help save your eyes and save money.

Your Mouth

The health of your mouth takes more than just brushing your teeth on a daily basis. You should be brushing at least twice a day, flossing daily, and even using mouthwash to help remove debris (which can also be great to use between brushing).

Your dental care routine won’t just help your teeth but your gums as well. Brushing or not, you need to get your yearly dental checkup to make sure you’re clean of cavities and not at risk for gum disease.

Your Neck

Do you sit for work? If you spend a lot of time sitting slumped over a desk, a computer, a sewing machine, or even a machine in a factory you are probably hurting your neck a great deal. Good posture is the only thing that is really going to make a difference, so make sure you are sitting in a proper chair and sitting correctly.

If you want to get some relief for your neck you should get a massage every once in awhile. You may even want to consider a visit to the chiropractor.

Your Hands

Do you wear gloves outside in the winter? What about wearing plastic gloves to protect your skin when you’re cleaning the kitchen or the bathroom? The skin on your hands can be thin in spots, and by not properly protecting your hands you may be risking frostbite, chemical burns, or even a rash.

Your Feet

There are also plenty of times when you need to protect your feet, like wearing the right shoes for running or the right socks for keeping your feet dry. If you shower in a public setting, like at the gym, make sure you wear swim shoes or flip-flops to protect your feet from athlete’s foot. And, when your feet are sore and tired get a massage!
